Partnership

Creating New Partnerships

Lobo Development Corporation (LDC) seeks to engage in active public/private partnerships to enhance competitiveness, sustainability, and long term value. Built on the previous successes of partnering with American Campus Communities for the development of new student campus housing, LDC is creating new partnerships to benefit the University of New Mexico.

American Campus Communities

Lobo Development Corporation and American Campus Communities(ACC) entered into a partnership in 2008 to develop new student housing for the University of New Mexico. Lobo Development facilitated a ground lease with ACC for the development of Lobo Village, an apartment style dormitory complex. During the tough economic situation in New Mexico, ACC provided a way for UNM to fulfill the much-needed demand for new campus housing. Following the completion of Lobo Village, ACC and LDC formed another agreement for a ground lease on UNM’s Central Campus to develop more student housing. The Central Campus housing is a dormitory style product and provides an additional 1,000 beds.

Investment

Investing for Student Success

Lobo Development Corporation is committed to investing in the University of New Mexico. Through successful development, LDC seeks to improve the University financially and more importantly the lives of the students. LDC’s first major project was Lobo village, an apartment-style dormitory complex for upper classmen located on UNM’s South Campus. Lobo Village was the first housing project for UNM since the early 1990’s, and was a major investment into UNM’s undergraduate population. Research from universities across the country shows a major increase in student success rates when they live on campus both in GPA and graduation rates.

Investing for the Future

LDC will continue its mission of investing in UNM for the betterment of the students. Through its unique position as a private entity owned by the University, LDC has the support of the University and the capability to create new successful developments in the future.
